Fair brackets, standard seeding
A good bracket rewards the teams that earned a high seed. This generator uses the same seeding math as major tournaments: the field is padded to a power of two, the best seeds receive first-round byes, and pairings are arranged so the top two seeds sit in opposite halves and can only collide in the final.
Drop in as few as 4 teams or as many as 64, add your own names, and you get a clean, printable-looking bracket in seconds — no spreadsheet gymnastics required.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
How does the bracket generator seed teams?
Teams are numbered 1 to N in the order you enter them (1 is the top seed). The tool pads the field up to the next power of two — 4, 8, 16, 32, or 64 — and pairs matchups with standard seeding so the top seed plays the lowest, the 2 seed plays the second-lowest, and the top two seeds can only meet in the final.
What happens when my team count isn't a power of two?
The bracket rounds up to the next power of two and adds byes for the difference. Those byes go to the highest seeds, so the strongest teams skip the first round — exactly how real tournaments reward a top seed. A 6-team field, for example, becomes an 8-slot bracket with the 1 and 2 seeds on byes.
Can I use my own team names?
Yes. Type one team name per line in seed order and the bracket uses them in place of generic seed labels. Leave the box blank and it will just label teams by seed number. Everything is generated in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
How many rounds will there be?
It depends on the bracket size: an 8-team bracket runs Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Final; 16 teams add a Round of 16; 32 and 64 add earlier rounds. The tool names each round and shows which match feeds into the next.
